Today, I sit down with Mista Yu, a man of many titles — podcast host, music minister, community builder, nonprofit director, and above all, a father and mentor. Our conversation goes into a 30,000-foot overview of his life: from surviving a near-death experience to discovering his personal relationship with God, and ultimately walking into his calling with purpose and integrity. We break down how that transformation wasn’t instant — it took years of internal rebuilding, spiritual guidance, and character development before he ever stepped into a leadership role. However, not everyone waits until they're ready to preach, or they don't always have a choice.

Mista Yu opens up about growing up without a father figure, the struggles of broken masculinity, and how he relied solely on God to model what fatherhood should look like. Despite the odds, he’s led his family with wisdom, written a book titled The Heart of the Stepfather, and is active in nonprofit work that serves young children.
